Happy Four Months little man! It's been the longest yet fastest four months of moms life. Not because you're a harder baby, but because all babies are hard. Time consuming, all encompassing. And it doesn't help that it's winter and we've been trapped in the house.
You started out pretty fussy. But once we figured out your "recipe" things were a little smoother. You're pretty sensitive to things I eat. Which is not fun for me. Or you for that matter. No Diet Coke. No chocolate. No pizza. No milk. Very minimal amounts of cheese. Pretty much all the things I love I had to give up.
You have acid reflux. We give you Zantac twice a day. It definitely helps.
You smile easily. And at anyone. You started laughing at about 3 months old.
You don't scare at loud noises. You actually sleep better when it's really noisy. Good thing since your older brother is loud, loud, loud.
You take naps in your swing. You only sleep for 20-40 minutes (40 minutes if I'm reeeeally lucky). You take 3-4 naps a day. Every few days I have to hold you for one of your naps so you'll sleep for a long time. Otherwise you get really grumpy. If I hold you, you'll nap for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. That's when I catch up on all my DVR shows, or read articles on the Internet from my ipad.
You go to sleep around 8 or 8:30 at night. I have to hold you for at least an hour to make sure you're really asleep before I lay you down. You sleep in a crib next to our bed until you wake up the first time. You are a very irregular sleeper at night. And not a good one. Some nights you wake up 2 or 3 times. Other nights you wake up every 20 to 30 minutes. You're very gassy at night. By 3 or 4 am I end up holding you for the rest of the night while we both sleep on and off. It's not ideal.
You're generally pretty happy though you like to be held if it's up to you. You're in your best mood right after you wake up in the morning. 8:30am-9:15ish is when I get the most done without holding you. You'll hang out in your bouncer throughout the day and recently we've been putting you in the Bumbo which you love. you like to be able to see what's going on.
Lately you've been bending in half while sitting in the Bumbo. Makes me worried you're going to pop out of it one of these days. I only put you in it if I'm right there by you. You usually sit in there while I make dinner.
You're very tolerant of your siblings holding you. Carter loves to try and do patty cake with you. You usually let him while I continually remind him to be "soft". He isn't always.
You love to be outside. Love. Some evenings I go out even when it's cold. You cry when we come back inside.
You also love to take baths. You kick your legs like a crazy man. You're too big for the bath I set in the sink, but I put you in it anyway. I'm not ready to bend over the big tub yet. I have to put a towel along the edge of the sink to catch all the water you slosh out. You're our only kid who doesn't scream like they're dying when water gets in your eyes. For now, you smile. One day I imagine you'll scream like the rest of them.
You are my only baby that I have swaddled. You are very particular about being calmed. Swaddled, cradled in my arms, while I pat you (more like smack) on the back. You like to be patted pretty aggressively. I think it helps the bubbles in your stomach. You don't not calm down easily for your dad.
I've only left you a hand full of times. And always less than one hour. I don't do well being away from my babies. And you don't do well being away from me. It makes things a little tricky, but we manage.
You hate (more like loathe) the car. You scream. Hysterically. And you're a sweaty mess when we get you out of your car seat. There's no way to soothe you in the car. You won't take binkies. And you don't fall asleep. You just scream. It's not fun for any of us. Thankfully you're getting a little better. If I time it just right, we can go 10-20 minutes in the car without a melt down. It makes me not want to go anywhere. So we don't.
I was very vigilant about keeping you healthy this winter. Every member of our family got sick multiple (over and over and over) times. It was a very hard winter health wise for our family. But thanks to God, we kept you healthy the entire time. I was a crazy person about making everyone wash their hands and sanitize. My hands suffered from all the washing, but it was definitely worth it.
At your 2 month appointment, you were 14 pounds. Hefty kid. We take you to the doctor Monday. I'm guessing you're up to 17ish pounds.
You never had trouble with nursing. But you just get the job done. No "hanging out" on the boob. You are not a comfort nurser which is a HUGE relief for me. You also don't nurse to sleep. Another huge relief because I can get you to sleep anywhere we go without having to nurse you.
You drool. Alot. Your clothes are soaked around the neck by the end of the day.
You wear size 6-12 month clothes because you are really long. It will be interesting to see how tall you are when you grow up. I'm guessing tall.
You like to lay on the ottoman and watch TV. And when I work on the computer, you'll sit on my lap and watch Baby Einstein on Youtube.
You like to "talk". You make lots of little noises. You'll fit in just great around here. We're all talkers. Except your dad. :)
You rolled over from your stomach to your back for the first time yesterday. I never do "tummy time" with my babies so it was only the 2nd time I put you on your stomach. We got it on video. Carter thought it was a game and tried to roll you back over.
Here's a few pictures we took a few days ago.

Car rides
A little taste of what it's like to ride in the car with us these days. Have mercy.
So we pretty much just stay home. Because listening to that in the car kinda makes me want to drive off a bridge. Good thing we don't have many bridges in Utah.
