Thatta girl

The girls were playing at the park the other day. Mya was in a situation where another little girl wasn't being particularly nice. At one point she was in Mya's grill talkin some smack and violating some serious personal space. I stayed out of it to see how Mya would handle it. I try not to always get involved in things like that so the girls learn how to stick up for themselves without Mom rescuing them all the time (obviously if it was serious enough I would have intervened). Mya then got a little shove and I stood up to stop it.
And then in swooped Jaida, who had heard Mya cry. She pushed the little girl out of the way, smacked her hand (not sure what that was about), put her arms protectively around Mya and gave the little girl the nastiest stare-down I've ever seen.
I suppose her new phrase "mess with me and I'll mess you up" extends to her sister as well.
Good job, Jaida.

You never know. . .

. . .where you'll find things when you have kids. Took me forever to find my dishwashing scrubbers (that's my technical term). Can't believe I didn't think to look on the windowsill behind the blinds. Duh. Though I didn't see who put them there, I'm 110% positive it was Mya. She's fun like that.

Today.

Today was hard.
Today I was beaten down. Slowly. But surely.
Today I got nothing done. And yet I never had time to rest.
Today I was frustrated.
Today I was tired.
Today I was a bad mom. A mom I never want to be.
Right now, I want to cry. And then I want to go to bed and not wake up for a few days. Or maybe a few weeks.
And the last thing I want to do is wake up tomorrow and do it all over again.
But I will.
Because that's what mom's do.
We show up. Everyday.
Because we love the little sh*ts. No matter what they do.
Jaida. Mya. I love you. When you're a mom, you'll understand.

Here's to motherhood! :)

I hope this is over.

Despite snow in April, my girls will let nothing deter them from extreme bike and scooter riding.

It's hard to tell, but Mya is pushing her scooter through the snow.

Easter 09.

We did celebrate Easter at our house. And it was super fun. Easter egg dye everywhere, and more easter egg hunts than we care to count.

But of course we emphasized the real reason for Easter. To which Jaida recounted as "Jesus getting buried in a cave and then coming back to see us."

Oh heaven help me.
