It also runs out on adults. So you need an adult whooping cough vaccination.
I follow a blog of a photographer but not for the photography. She had a baby a few weeks before I had Carter. And he caught whooping cough (they think from an adult) when he was six weeks old. Two weeks before he would have had the vaccination. And he swelled up. And turned blue. And spent several days in intensive care. While his still recovering mom sat by his side and watched him breath his last breath. Sounds dramatic, I know. But it's true.

Point is, check and see if you're current. And if you aren't, get the shot. Even if you don't have babies. Because you could catch whooping cough and then give it to some mother's baby who hasn't been protected yet.

Yikes. We have to do something about illegal immigration. My doc told me that the cases they see stem from illegals bringing these diseases back to our populace. He thinks they may be too scared to go get their shot or don't know about the vaccines. This isn't meant to be a political comment, by the way.

Yes. Mark and I just had this conversation. He's not very happy to have to have an actual shot this year...
Considering my mother can still recall in vivid detail, and has pictures of what it was like to sit with me in an incubator in the NICU from whooping cough - He'll be getting it. Whether he likes it or not. It's too scary.
that is so sad. You think as an adult your good to go- that is scary!
